The Structural Timber Association (STA) has appointed Stewart Dalgarno as TiC (Timber in Construction) Project Manager.

Dalgarno is well-regarded within the housebuilding and timber frame industry, having held senior roles at the Stewart Milne Group; as MD of its timber frame operations and more recently as Director of Innovation and Sustainability. His project management skills and innovative thinking has seen him lead several award-winning low-carbon timber housing projects. An expert within the industry, his appointment to the STA has been welcomed across the organisation.

Speaking on his appointment, Dalgarno said: “I’m excited to be joining STA, there is a global opportunity to shape the future of low carbon housing. Structural timber is the most sustainable way to build homes, and by working collaboratively, we can help to deliver the TIC Roadmap.

“The UK in particular is seeing positive growth with the adoption of timber frame in new housebuilding, with housebuilders of all sizes transitioning towards the technology.”

Andrew Carpenter, Chief Executive Officer of the STA, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to bring Stewart onboard at the STA to support us in delivering the Timber in Construction Roadmap Implementation Plan – 2025 will be all about delivery.

“The industry currently finds itself in a very positive position, with significant opportunities across the board in increasing the use of structural timber in construction. Stewart brings with him a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience, which will support the STA and the wider industry.”

Stewart’s role will see him work collaboratively with Government, TiC partners TDUK and CONFOR, industry and numerous stakeholders to evolve and execute a detailed implementation plan focused on growing the use of structural timber here in the UK.
