Offsite Expo 2022: Driving positive change in the industry
06/10/2022
The Structural Timber Association took part again this year in the recent Offsite Expo – an annual event that brings together companies in the industry that utilise offsite construction. The STA was also proud to be part of the judging panel for Offsite Awards, which celebrate and champion innovative offsite projects.
At this year’s event, it was incredibly positive to meet with key stakeholders from the construction industry, as more companies recognise the importance of offsite solutions, and how valuable they are to the journey to net zero. It was particularly interesting to see more solution providers at the expo than ever before, and this wasn’t limited to the UK, but from around the world too.
Andrew Carpenter from the STA, who chaired two CPD Masterclasses, said: “It was a pleasure to present the structural timber masterclasses on both offsite technology and the housing sector. There was significant interest in the structural timber elements of the Offsite Expo as a whole. There is certainly a marked realisation that timber presents the only true building material to find an answer to the issue of the climate crisis.”
The STA also sponsored the ‘Best Use of Timber Technology’ category at this year’s Offsite Awards. Andrew Orriss from the STA, who was part of the judging panel, said:
“Each year the Offsite Awards showcase some of the best innovation in the industry, and the fact that so many winning and shortlisted projects had timber frames and timber elements was great to see. Recognising these achievements is crucial to ensure that innovation is driven in the right direction on our net zero journey.”
Key stakeholders in the insurance industry were also present in numbers at the Offsite Expo this year, which is a testament to the ongoing collaboration between our industries – and a positive indication that we can support the industry to meet its net zero goals.
