Allan Corfield Architects

In the summer of 2009 RIBA Chartered Architect Allan Corfield set up Allan Corfield Architects (ACA). ACA aims to provide a client focused personal service, which responds to the current financial and environmental situation. ACA’s focus is clear ‘people, place and design’.

In order to exceed clients expectations a company charter has been created, which sets out the goals and aims which will be met during every project. In addition, ACA invested in the latest architectural rendering software (Archicad) which allows clients to receive an accurate eye catching glimpse of their proposed design in 3D dimensions, either as a walk-through movie or a photorealistic image.

In 2010 with the continued growth of ACA the decision was taken to form a private limited company, this allows the company to service large scale commercial projects. At the same time ACA moved into new office accommodation, Buchan House is located in the heart of the vibrant Carnegie Business Campus in Dunfermline.

Since inception ACA has secured 112 individual commissions, including a variety of energy efficient homes, SIPS Homes and our first global project in Quezon, Philippines. Recently we developed a close working relationship with Monkey Bizness, Uk’s premier children’s indoor play centre operators and have now competed centres in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Towards the end of 2011 Allan started researching the Passive House design principle, which will become the design standard for residential properties in 2019. ACA hopes to become a design leader throughout Scotland in providing energy efficient low cost housing. AC Architects are seen as a specialist practice in the design and technical delivery of SIPS paneled homes for the self build market. ACA have molded their service to suit the requirments of the self builder.

To deal with the continued growth of ACA and the number of projects we have secured, ACA increased its staffing with the addition of Robin Gray. Robin brings over 30years of experience in running projects and preparing construction details for all types of commercial and residential properties.

In 2013 ACA’s team grew to 5 with 2 new ARB Registered Architects joining, both Iga and John bring a wealth of experience in both commercial and the domestic sectors. In order to deal with the growing administrative side of the business, Kim McIntosh was appointed Office Manager. Kim is responsible with running the office and dealing with all accounts.

Early in 2014 architectural technician David MacFarlane joined the practice, adding a sound technical ability and energetic work ethic.

ACA is a forward thinking and innovative company, which is always trying to utilise the latest technology in a bid to enrich our customer’s experience. In August 2013 ACA invested in the latest version of its computer design program, ArchiCad 17. ACA has been using ArchiCAD for a number of years to show our clients their projects in full 3D models, from the very first design stages. ACA is now able to provide clients with a standalone model which they can navigate around on their handheld device, including iPad, iPhone and Android compatible devices. Another innovative service provided through this new software is the ability to provide accurate energy assessments of buildings from the very start of the project. Giving clients a variety of information including, energy performance, heating requirements and on-going energy bills. This information is invaluable in creating energy efficient homes and buildings for our clients.
