Top Nomination For Erectors’ Programme

The Structural Timber Association’s Erector Mentoring Programme has been nominated for a prestigious Building Award.
The Structural Timber Association’s Erector Mentoring Programme has been nominated for a prestigious Building Award.

The programme was designed to improve the skills of 15 erector companies and prepare them for an upturn in the performance of the UK’s construction sector.

Over the past year, the companies have seen an improvement in the performance of their businesses, with a corresponding up-turn in financial results.

The programme has been nominated in the Training Initiative of the Year category.  Other nominees in the category, which is sponsored by the Construction Industry Training Board, include:
  • Technician Apprenticeship Consortium
  • UKCG SEATs – Wates Group
  • BIM Campus - _space Architecture & Northern Construction Training
  • Future Enterprise Board – Thomas Vale Construction
  • Building Lives

Andrew Carpenter, chief executive of the STA, welcomed the nomination: “The Erector Mentoring Programme was a key focus for the STA last year, so we are delighted that it has been nominated for a Building Award alongside some of the biggest companies and organisations in the construction sector.  I would like to thank everyone for their support in delivering this programme and urge you to keep everything crossed that we succeed come the awards ceremony in April!”

The Building Awards take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 2 April 2014.
