Another exciting innovation from Midlands fast growing self-build and timber frame specialists

Fast growing Midlands based timber frame specialists Timber Innovations has taken another big step forward in its development, with the launch of a new division that takes customer service build commitment to a new level.

Innovations Carpentry has been launched to further improve its service to its self-build clients, by taking on a full-time team of specialist carpenters. Going forward, it means that all staff who work on timber frame projects are the overall responsibility of Timber Innovations – further strengthening the company’s commitment to the self-build industry.

Explained Ian MacCarthy, business development manager, Timber Innovations: “This is a really exciting step forward, in that we are bringing more people ‘in house’, and further securing our commitment to clients.

“Essentially, we design timber frame projects to the bespoke requirements of our client, we have project managers working on-site, and as a company, we are always very ‘hands on’. But like many companies in the construction industry, we have used sub-contractors, and while we have always been very careful in who we select to hire, we have always wanted to be more in control.

“When we undertake a timber frame project it is not only important to us that we build a close relationship with our client, but also that our client knows exactly who will be turning up day in, day out, and who is responsible if there is a problem.

“With Innovations Carpentry, we now have a tried and trusted member of our team in overall control of the carpenters on site. They are our members of staff, and our client knows that in the event of any issues on site cropping up – as they inevitably do during such a big project – there is one person that ultimately, they can contact.”

Heading up Innovations Carpentry is Karl Hughes, a highly experienced carpenter and one time regular sub-contractor for Timber Innovations who believes this new move by Timber Innovations ‘makes perfect sense’.

He explained: “Building someone’s dream home is a massive responsibility – it is a major investment for our client, and therefore our duty to make sure that we get it right, and that everything runs smoothly.

“Innovations Carpentry is a natural extension of the service Timber Innovations provided, it means the team are all part of one big family, the client knows exactly who they’re dealing with, who is responsible, and that gives them more security in our reliability to service them.
“What people don’t want is one guy turning up for a couple of days, another guy on site for a day, someone else the day after, and so on,” said Karl. “Then there is the problem of being let down at the last minute – all things that are far too frequent in our industry, and something we are addressing by employing our own carpenters.”

Earlier this year, the company launched Innovations Plus, in which they offer to project manage a client’s self-build process from start to finish.

Said Ian MacCarthy: “In five years, Timber Innovations has made phenomenal progress, including the launch of two additional divisions this year, and with our profile and reputation growing all the time, we never stop thinking about how we can make our clients’ self-build experience as straight-forward and seamless as it can be.”
